چکیده

This paper introduces a new coexistence study of the future WiMAX system and existing fixed wireless access (FWA) systems and investigates its feasibility. Spectrum emission mask as an interference mitigation technique is used as well as interference to noise ratio (I/N) of -6 dB as one of standard sharing criterion value at FWA systems recommended by international telecommunication union radio sector ITU-R. Three channel bandwidths of (3.5, 7, and 10 MHz) of WiMAX system in the band 3500 MHz are selected to be studied with 7 MHz FWA channel in dense urban area. All parameters of the two systems are presented and methodology is explained. It is well known that frequency distance rules are an important of frequency coordination process in most radio services, so frequency and distance separations are determined and analyzed for both terms co-channel interference and adjacent channel interference in the different interference scenarios which are supposed. This coexistence and spectrum sharing study is considered as an initial step toward beyond 3G or IMT-Advanced coexistence with FWA systems. Key-Words: Coexistence, Sharing, WiMAX systems, Fixed wireless access systems, Interference-to-noise ratio, Spectrum emission mask.

Toward Coexistence and Sharing between IMT-Advanced and Existing Fixed Systems

In this paper coexistence and spectrum sharing between systems as a recently critical issue due to emerging new wireless technologies and spectrum scarcity are investigated. At World Radiocommunication Conferences 2007 (WRC-07), International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunications (ITU-R) allocated 3400-3600 MHz band for the coming fourth generation (4G) or IMT-Advanced on a co-primary bas...

Use of Cognitive Radio Techniques for Ofdm Ultrawideband Coexistence with Wimax

This paper explores the issues in coexistence between Broadband Fixed Wireless Access, also know as WiMax or 802.16e, and Ultrawideband (UWB), specifically the multiband OFDM form of UWB as promoted by the WiMedia trade group. A multiband OFDM receiver can operate as a channelized radiometer to detect emissions from WiMax systems, either in the uplink or downlink channel. By using well known de...

Coexistence and Sharing between IMT-Advanced and DVB-T Services at 790-862 MHz

The 790-862 MHz frequency band is allocated for IMT-Advanced system on a co-primary basis operation alongside existing Digital Video BroadcastingTerrestrial (DVB-T), At WRC-07. As a result of frequency spectrum scarcity and emerging various wireless applications, coexistence and sharing between wireless systems become a recently considerable issue. Therefore, coexistence and sharing requirement...

The Role of Regulatory in Price Control and Spectrum Allocation to Competing Wireless Access Networks

With the rapid growth of wireless access networks, various providers offer their services using different technologies such as Wi-Fi, Wimax, 3G, 4G and so on. These networks compete for the scarce wireless spectrum. The spectrum is considered to be a scarce resource moderated by the spectrum allocation regulatory (“regulatory” for short) which is the governance body aiming to maximize the socia...
